Cervical Screening

The practice nurse carries this out. We encourage all women to have a regular cervical smear.  Primary Care Services England operates a normal three-year recall system for those patients under 50, and 5 year recall for the over 50, but this sometimes fails if a change of address has not been registered with the practice. The ages from 241/2 – 64 are targeted.   The practice nurse has information about screening and the letter for recall contains information about the test.

All patients are informed by post about the result of the smear and when the next recall is due. Results are normally back within 2 weeks.
