Obtaining Results

Getting a Result

You can telephone the surgery after 11:00am to obtain your test results. Most blood results will be available after 3 – 5 working days although some may take longer. Xray results take 7-10 working days following the date of the xray.

The receptionist will be able to give you the message attached to the result by the GP only. Our receptionists are not clinically trained and cannot give you a more detailed breakdown of any test results. If you wish for more information then please make a routine appointment with the GP or Practice Nurse.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them. You will be asked for some personal information to assist in identification.

Hospital investigations

If your X-ray / CT scan / MRI scan was requested by the hospital consultant and not one of our GP’s we will not receive the result and, therefore, ask you to contact the consultant directly (through his secretary) for the result. We will only be informed of the scan / xray result when we receive the letter from the consultant after the follow up clinic appointment. This can, at times, take up to 3 months after the clinic appointment.
